Early Childhood Education professor Dee Williams, PsyD, M.Ed., MA and Food Connects Farm to School Coach Sheila Humphreys, M.Ed., explore the resilience and mental health value of outdoor play and/or farm to early childhood programming for children and providers, as well as how to make these offerings more accessible to all.

Speakers

Dee Williams, PsyD, M.Ed., MA is an Early Childhood Education professor at Tohono O'odham Community College and an adjunct faculty at Antioch University New England. She serves on the Regional Council Board for First Things First in Cochise County, was on the ASPHN Farm to ECE Advisory Committee for the ASPHN Farm to ECE Grantee Program, and the Leadership Advisory Committee for Natural Start Alliance. Formerly, Dee served on the Board of Directors for Arizona Association of Environmental Education.

Sheila Humphreys, M.Ed., is Food Connects’ Farm to School Coach. She is a former elementary school teacher who has been involved in the Farm to School movement in Vermont Since 2007. She loves to inspire children to think about where their food comes from and encourage schools and communities to support local agriculture. Sheila has lived experience of childhood trauma, and she is passionate about supporting schools in adopting a trauma-informed approach to education.
